Salt Lake

One County, One Book

Diversity. It is a thread that weaves its way in and out of the lives of Americans. It has created painful memories, like the internment of Japanese-Americans in World War II, and the joyful cultural, ethnic and religious traditions that flourish in Salt Lake County today.

Reading and discussing great books such as Julie Otsaka’s When the Emperor Was Divine, can build bridges of understanding of the diversity found with nearby neighbors and far-away neighborhoods alike. The goal of One County, One Book is to have all of Salt Lake County – adults, new readers, students and families – reading the same book to create a County wide conversation and greater understanding.

Read the book. Pass it along.
